The cemetery in Zolotyi Potik contains some very old stones, a few of which date to the early seventeenth century and which display fine examples of the stone carver’s art. The location and its stones have been the subject of scholarly research and comment. Unfortunately, as one can see from the photos, virtually nothing has been done to preserve the stones. The cemetery has no physical security safeguards, and it appears that the neighboring residential area is encroaching on its area. No doubt the stone fragments shown here will soon be lost.
