Our information indicated that a gas station had encroached upon the cemetery in Skole; however, that did not seem to be the case. There was a gas station nearby, but it was located some distance from the cemetery. Against the background of the Carpathian Mountains we found a portion of the cemetery wall with one upright stone, a memorial marker, and two candles left by visitors. A couple of stones displayed Latin characters. There were many fewer stones than the several hundred that we had expected based on sources we had consulted.
