In Peremishliany we found a large cemetery with only a few stones on top of a hill. There was a modern ohel at the front of the cemetery with perhaps 25 stones and fragments scattered behind it. Some of what appear to be stones were very large–more massive than tall, although they are also of substantial length. One cannot rule out the possibility that those particular stones were in reality part of the destroyed cemetery wall. When we arrived there were 4 goats, 1 cow, and chickens grazing in the cemetery. Upon our arrival the cowherd took her cow into her yard, but she seemed to be observing us as though she would return the cow to the cemetery as soon as we left. There was no fence or security except for the locked ohel, but the animals kept the vegetation down.
