Unfortunately when I passed through Łódź on a glorious autumn day in 2008 I was able to spend only a few hours in the cemetery. It is an active cemetery with an impressive pre-burial house, wide leafy walkways in the most visited sections, and a wide variety of interesting tombstone and mausoleum styles. On the day that I visited there appeared to be a commendable number of maintenance and restoration projects underway.

In May of 2015 I visited the cemetery in Łódź for a second time. It was a gray, overcast day but the rain held off until later in the afternoon. It did not appear that much had changed since my previous visit with the exception that the Ghetto Field seemed to have been completed. I do not recall that I saw any other visitor during the time I was there; indeed, it was remarkably peaceful with the only sound the singing of numerous birds.
