In Făgăraş I found a well-maintained cemetery that contained about 200 visible stones.  Many of the stones were modern and verified the presence of a Jewish community at least until relatively recently.  Access to the cemetery was through private property, but the gatekeeper was very accommodating and allowed us to enter without the excessive questioning that one sometimes experiences.  Unfortunately on the day I visited the weather was rainy and cool and it was not a great day either for being outdoors or for photography.
