When I visited Busk, the former synagogue was under renovation for use as a Christian church. The workmen were kind enough to allow me to go inside where they discussed their efforts to preserve as much as they could of the original decorative work.
I visited Busk on a beautiful day in early May. The cemetery is a large pastoral area which on the day I was here was home to cows, horses and chickens; school children cutting through along a well-established path; and a fisherman using the pond within the cemetery location. Unfortunately, the stones at Busk were not of high quality and had weathered badly.
My party happened to encounter two Jehovah’s Witnesses who stopped to speak with us while I was photographing. That meant that we had three Protestant Christians, one Roman Catholic Christian and one Orthodox Christian standing around making small talk in the Jewish cemetery.
