In Buchachivtsi we found a synagogue and mikvah combined in one dilapidated building; at least that was what the local people with whom we talked told us. We met a man and a woman at the synagogue location. He claimed to have worked in the building during one of its later lives, and she touted the town as a good business location. Later we learned that she offered to sell the synagogue to us (although neither of the two people owned the synagogue), and he promised to make it worth our guide’s while if he would persuade us to buy the synagogue.
The cemetery was enclosed by a fence; however, many sections of the fence had fallen down. There were very few stones enclosed within a relatively large area. The underbrush was so heavy that photography was not productive.
