In Beclean our first stop was at the cemetery at 33 Codrului Street.  There we found a large cemetery fenced but with an unlocked gate.  Apparently it had been fenced by the Heritage Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Cemeteries, the same Jewish group that fenced Săcel and Nimigea de Jos.  The cemetery was well-maintained and everything appeared to be in good order, including the open ohel.  It was clean and neat inside.  There was no evidence of vandalism or damage anywhere.  The cemetery featured perhaps 150-200 stones, most of them very plain and in position.
